Training Requirements
Firefighter Training:
All new Firefighters (Junior and Probationary) must complete the following training. This is not a complete list of all required training. It is only meant to get you started.
Required Free FEMA Training:
IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
Please note, IS-800 and ICS-200 will be required later, but likely will be part of your Firefighter 1 program at a NJ Fire Academy.
*You must provide proof of course registration, completion, and passing the exam. Send all documents to a 43 Captain, or wwfire43 [at] gmail [dot] com.
Fire Police Officer Training:
All new Fire Police Officers must complete the following training. This is not a complete list of all required training. It is only meant to get you started.
Required Free FEMA Training:
IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS-200
NOTE: Firefighters cannot take IS-200 online, they must attend in person, in a classroom, and instructor led. However, Fire Police Officers (that are not also Firefighters) can attend this class virtual/online.

Additional Training:
The following additional training is required for all Firefighters and Fire Police Officers, and must be renewed every 2 years: CPR (AHA).
The following additional training is required to drive any Fire Apparatus (ex. Utility-43, Car-43, Engine-43, etc.): CEVO 4 Fire.
The following training is strongly advised for all First Responders: Traffic Incident Management (TIMS).
